Eneco Energy Trade forms the link between Eneco's market and (co)production facilities. For our own sustainable and gas-fuelled generation, Eneco Energy Trade purchases gas on the free market. With remotely controllable flexible gas plants and gas storage we are able to optimise the generation of electricity: more gas-fuelled generation when there is little wind. Gas plants and gas storage also provide flexibility for coping with periods of imbalance resulting from unforeseen fluctuations in demand.

For independent developers without their own trading capacity, the business unit Eneco Energy Trade acts as the trader. Power Purchasing Agreements (PPAs) will be concluded with these developers.

Eneco Energy Trade is also actively involved in the trade in biofuels and energy related products such as derivatives and CO2 certificates.
